Following the introduction of the Mu3 Noise Cancelling True Wireless earphones earlier this year, KEF is delighted to announce the launch of a new sleek Charcoal Grey finish, available from August, 2021. Designed by visionary designer Ross Lovegrove, and engineered by KEF’s UK acoustic team, the earphones deliver pristine, high-resolution sound on the move.
Celebrating 60 years this year, KEF has firmly established itself at the forefront of audio excellence. From the early adoption of synthetic materials, to the pioneering Reference Series that now determines industry standard, a foundation of technological innovation, design, and craftsmanship has led KEF to produce bar-setting products.
Continuing the brand’s uncompromising commitment to world-leading audio technology and its ambition to turn every music lover into a music connoisseur through pure and natural sound; the Mu3 earphones provide music lovers the freedom to hear every note, every word, every detail – whether on their commute, at the gym, or on the sofa.
Featuring KEF’s Active Noise Cancellation technology, the Mu3 earphones eliminate external noise without affecting the details that bring music to life. Each Mu3 earbud features an 8.2mm full-range dynamic driver, expertly tuned by KEF’s engineering team to deliver an exceptionally dynamic and well balanced, coherent sound with rich midrange, detailed bass and crisp high tones.
To ensure that the Mu3 earphones uphold the same level of design as they do sound, KEF has once again collaborated with Ross Lovegrove, the designer behind the MUON loudspeaker and the MUO Bluetooth speaker. Renowned for his innovative approach and flowing, sculptural forms, Ross Lovegrove brings a new dimension to sound. Through design that embraces both beauty and technological ingenuity, Lovegrove’s ongoing collaboration with KEF is an exercise in aesthetic and engineering excellence.
The ergonomic design of the Mu3 offers each listener a comfortable audio experience. A choice of four different sized ear tips ensure a tailored fit, while also providing the perfect seal for noise isolation. Two colourways enable each listener to match their personal style, with sleek Silver Grey finish, or new Charcoal Grey.
Stable, latency-free Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity removes the need for wires, and audio performance is further enhanced by the introduction of simultaneous transmission, reducing the risk of latency. Simple to connect and exceptionally stable, the Mu3s are able to connect with both iOS and Android devices.
After the simple setup, automatic pairing makes listening to the Mu3 an effortless experience. The Mu3 earphones also boast ‘Ambient Mode’, where audio picked up on the microphones is played through the earphones, bypassing passive noise reduction and providing the listener with instant clarity on their surroundings.

KEF was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke OBE (1925–1995). Headquartered, in those early years, in a Nissen Hut on the premises of Kent Engineering & Foundry in the UK, after more than half a century at the cutting edge of audio the company remains committed to excellence in sound. From ground-breaking Uni-Q technology to the bar-setting LS50 Wireless, KEF’s flair for the unusual – and sometimes controversial – balances an obsession with design in harmony with the most innovative engineering. KEF’s reputation for quality is founded on a refusal to compromise on aural authenticity or experience.
