David Guetta talked with Metro about a set among the stars, MTV EMA’s and more..

DJ aborted space gig, but retains rave new world dream SUPERSTAR DJ David Guetta was all fired up to spin a set in outer space – but pushed the ejector seat button on his plan. The Blast Off beatmaker checked in with Guilty Pleasures to reveal why he chickened out of boarding Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, the world’s first commercial spaceliner. ‘They came with the offer and I loved it. I was very close to doing it,’ he said.

So why did he turn the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity down?

‘Something went wrong with one of the flights and I got scared,’ he explained. But watch this space, as the Frenchman has not ruled out soaring into the stratosphere one day in the future. ‘It is still on my to-do list, for real,’ he admitted. Tomorrow, David’s feet will be firmly on the ground as he shares the MTV Presents stage with U2 in Trafalgar Square.

And the dad-of-two says he is ‘honoured’ to be starring with the Irish rockers at the sold-out free concert – part of the pre-celebrations for Sunday’s MTV European Music Awards. ‘I’m a big fan. We’ve crossed paths
many times,’ he added. Could a collaboration be on the cards? ‘We talked about it in the past,’ he confessed. ‘I’d love to do it, of course.’ David will also perform new single Dirty Sexy Money, with Charli XCX and French Montana, at the EMAs. But he better set an alarm clock – as he likes to snooze before gigs. ‘It’s not very rock’n’roll but I lay down in the dark and close my eyes. You could call it a power nap. Then I want to go on stage so bad,’ he said.
