Get ready for a brand new ‘Ask Us Anything’! This week our PR Intern Ruben has answered all of your questions! Ruben started this year as an intern at TMN and is a jack of all trades working on different projects. “I have had a lot of great experiences during my internship, but being involved at the start of a new client like Goldband really impressed me.” he said. Keep on reading to find out about Ruben’s first week as an intern, what it’s like to work in a company with mostly women, and what his favourite festival is!
How was your first week as an intern?
Crazy! As this is my first ever internship I didn’t exactly know what to expect, but after a couple of days I felt at home already. I remember being asked to host our Vrijmibo quiz just five minutes before it started in my first month. That immediately shows you are part of the team!
What is your favourite animal?
My favourite animal? According to my friends it must be a snail, but I think I’ll go for a sea eagle. Would love to be able to fly and eat any fish I come across hehe!
What’s your favourite festival?
Aaaah I can’t choose! There are so many special festivals with spectacular line-ups and at this point you can make me happy with just any festival haha! If I really need to pick one, I would go for Tomorrowland or Amsterdam Dance Event. The future of festivals in The Netherlands looks bright at this moment, so fingers crossed the situation will stay the same and we can have an amazing festival summer!
As an intern do you immediately know what’s expected of you? Do you get a clear explanation of your tasks?
The team clearly tells you what is expected of you from the beginning on. As a lot of tasks are new (or at least, they were to me), you will need to figure out how to do certain things yourself from time to time, which will teach you a lot about the industry and working in a team. An active attitude is often combined with even more freedom and responsibility so that you can really get the most out of your internship!
Oof that’s a tough one… The tracks from Flume and Folamour keep surprising me, they both have such a unique sound with an even more wicked production. But furthermore you can always call me for Dutch legend Dries Roelvink or when I’m at the gym a beeper from Reinier Zonneveld or Sub Zero Project.
Is it possible to get an internship without currently being enrolled in a study program?
Yes definitely! If the team sees a good match with you this doesn’t have to be a problem at all. Just send your application to firstname.lastname@example.org and the team will take it from there.
What is it like for you to work in a company with mostly women?
Both the team and I are really easy going, hence I felt at home right away and didn’t have a hard time finding my way in the team. They are kicking ass colleagues who work really hard for their clients. I have a great connection with my supervisors Maud B & Jaëlle and always have a lot of fun during work. Would rate my time at The Media Nanny 10/10! 🙂
What has been the best experience you’ve had as an intern at The Media Nanny so far?
I have had a lot of great experiences during my internship but being involved at the start of a new client like Goldband really impressed me. Besides the interviews it is nice to see journalists discovering our new clients like Goldband and offering them great opportunities, that gives us satisfaction too!
